The spring/summer 2026 season confirmed eyewear as one of the most expressive categories in fashion accessories.

Far beyond its functional role, glasses and sunglasses have become a primary language of identity, shaping silhouettes and redefining how faces are framed.

Tbilisi-based eyewear and accessory label IRIS used the SS26 season to present its own exploration of optical design, unveiling a conceptual direction that merges traditional craftsmanship with experimental form-making. The project was introduced through a presentation in Georgia, followed by a digital showcase highlighting five distinct eyewear directions for the season.

Rather than following a single aesthetic, the collection reads as a study of distortion, clarity, and exaggeration, where each frame type functions as a different emotional filter. The brand describes the approach as “seeing through transformation”, treating eyewear as both object and perception tool.

Tinted gradients
Softly shaded lenses remain central to the SS26 vocabulary. IRIS reinterprets tinted optics through layered color transitions inspired by urban light in Tbilisi at sunset. Thin acetate frames are paired with washed amber, smoke grey, and muted rose lenses, creating a softened but expressive visual field.

Minimal wire structures
Continuing the evolution of lightweight design, ultra-thin metal frames appear almost invisible on the face. The brand refines this direction with asymmetric bridge detailing and hand-finished joints, emphasizing precision rather than decoration. The result is an aesthetic that feels reduced yet highly technical.

Wrap silhouettes
Protective, enveloping eyewear emerges as a key structural theme. These designs curve around the face in continuous lines, blurring the boundary between sport and luxury. The effect is architectural, echoing contemporary interest in functional futurism without abandoning wearability.

Experimental geometry
Angular frames take on exaggerated proportions, pushing eyewear into sculptural territory. Sharp lines, offset lenses, and fragmented symmetry define this direction, reflecting a broader shift toward expressive accessories that challenge facial proportions rather than simply complement them.

Statement frames
Oversized and visually dominant silhouettes continue to gain momentum. IRIS approaches this trend through bold acetate constructions in saturated tones, where eyewear becomes the focal point of the entire look. These designs emphasize presence, turning glasses into a central stylistic signature.

Across all directions, SS26 eyewear highlights a continued shift toward individuality and conceptual design. For IRIS, the season is less about defining a single trend and more about expanding the vocabulary of how vision itself can be interpreted through fashion.
